Let's face it. We live amongst a lot of trees. Even when it isn't fall leafs, debris, sticks and who knows what else comes off the trees.
As a result our gutters get clogged and water stops draining like it should.
Because of this...
A lot of people fall for the promise that gutter guards will stop all of that when in fact it often makes the problem worse, costs 20x as much and you still have to pay to maintain your gutters.
That is why we don't install gutter guards.
However...
They are completely different. They don't promise that you will never have to clean, maintain or look at your gutters again. What they do is prevent debris from clogging your downspout.
In fact, they can be covered completely with debris and because of their design still allow water to flow into your downspout without the debris.
Most gutter cleaners don't want to sell them because it means they get less working cleaning your gutters.
We are different and want your gutters to flow all year round and the most economical way to do that is to clean them 1 - 2 times a year with downspout filters vs cleaning them 3 - 5 times a year.
They work great and that is why the owner of Guru Gutter Cleaning has them on his home.
This customer called us because their tenant said the gutters needed cleaned. The landlord was unaware that it had screens on them but was aware that there was some plant growth.
After arriving we realized that this job was another one for the books.
People ask us all the time if we would recommend gutter guards or screens and we tell them no.
Why?
Because we see gutters with guards or screens that have gone off the deep end. Typically people stop paying attention to their gutters when they have guards or screens and as a result they get really bad.
What?
Guards and screened gutters till clog?
Absolutely and when they do the problem is 10x worse.
With this job we had to manually remove all the screens before cleaning them out. That was some work and a lot of cleanup with all the plants growing through the screens.
A local day care called us up asking for us to come clean out their gutters. They had gotten pretty bad over the years and needed some professional help.
Commercial gutters are a little bigger than your typical residential gutter systems. In fact, they are about 4x the size which means they hold a lot more debris.
The customer had estimated that it had been over 2 years since these gutters were cleaned last.
